Essay
Aftertype Journal Editions / 2026
What Aftertype is
A one-person studio making Ghost themes. This is the journal that goes with it.
I have been building websites for a long time. Most of that was client work: agencies, brands, WordPress, the usual. Somewhere along the way I started building Ghost themes for myself, because I wanted a publishing setup that did not fight me. That turned into a habit, and this month the habit turned into a business.
Aftertype is that business. One person, based in Maastricht, making premium themes for Ghost. The first one is Northline, a magazine and editorial theme that went live at aftertype.studio in early September. The second one is on the bench right now. More about that later.
This journal is where the work happens in public. Not launch announcements, or not only those. The decisions behind a layout. The thing that took an afternoon and should have taken ten minutes. What I learn about Ghost while building on it, since I answer a lot of theme questions on the Ghost forum and the same ones keep coming back.
A few things you can expect. Posts will be short. I would rather publish one useful note than a long essay nobody finishes. Screenshots over adjectives. And if a theme has a flaw, you will read about it here before it is fixed, not after.
One more thing. This site runs on Northline. Not a demo build, the same package you can buy. If something looks off, that is a bug I have to live with too, which is the point.
If you want the next post by email, the signup is below. No schedule. It goes out when there is something worth saying.

Questions, corrections and counterpoints all welcome. Theme support goes through the shop, not here.
